North Cornwall Commons Apartments project moving forward
A new apartment complex in North Cornwall Commons is now under construction.
A celebratory groundbreaking ceremony marking that milestone for North Cornwall Commons Apartments, a project of Byler Holdings LLC, will take place at 11 a.m. Nov. 19 at 119 Springwood Drive, Lebanon.
The apartments are part of 81-acre North Cornwall Commons, a mixed-use development in North Cornwall Township that also includes townhomes, retail, office, and hospitality space.
The groundbreaking is for the first of two 110-unit buildings, said Mike Swank, operations director for the real estate division of Byler Holdings. Representatives from state Sen. Dave Arnold's office, Visit Lebanon Valley, and United Way of Lebanon County are expected to attend, among others.
The first building is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2021 and will feature a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments, he told LebTown. The size of the units and target rents will be disclosed as the units are marketed in early 2021.
Residents will have access to a community building with a swimming pool, exercise area, and community room. The development is located along the Lebanon Valley Rail Trail.
Byler Holdings is the manager of North Cornwall Commons Apartments LLC, which is the owner and builder of the apartment building. The units are part of the development's third phase, Swank said, although they are adjacent to the existing improvements within Phase I.
More than half of Phase I's 160 townhomes, known as Trail Side, have been constructed; Kenneth Homes is the builder of the three-bedroom, 2.5-bath, one-car garage units, which start at less than $175,000.
The nonresidential portion of the development is growing, too, with a coffee house and nail salon among the tenants.
More retail and office space is coming in the first phase, Swank said, which also has two restaurant pads. Other phases will include retail and office space as well, based on market demand, he said. There's flexibility in how the plans evolve, Swank said.
And the $13 million, four-story Marriott Fairfield Inn & Suites is currently under construction, which will have 90 rooms and suites, along with an indoor pool, a breakfast area, meeting rooms and a large lobby. An earlier LebTown article called the hotel North Cornwall Commons' "crown jewel."
Byler Holdings and Blackford Development Ltd. make up Springwood Development Partners, creator and developer of North Cornwall Commons.
Before the project got underway, road widening and other major infrastructure improvements were completed, Swank said. North Cornwall Commons, in Cornwall-Lebanon School District, is at the intersection of Rocherty and Cornwall roads.
South of Lebanon, the development is directly across from the Lebanon Valley Exposition Center and Fairgrounds and features an entrance to the Lebanon Valley Rails to Trail.
This is Byler Holdings' largest development undertaking in Lebanon County, Swank said. It operates numerous businesses, including several local golf courses, Iron Valley Tubing and Penn Cinema Lititz.
